In 1982, Dr. Mathews obtained membership in the Catholic Biblical Association (CBA) and was supported by that organization’s Memorial Stipend Award from 1983-1987. Dr. Mathews is a regular consultant for the Diocese of Scranton, has had experience directing the RCIA at the Cathedral parish of St. Peter’s, and was director and cofounder of the University of Scranton’s Catholic Studies Program. Her gift for teaching was awarded the University of Scranton’s Alpha Sigma Nu Award Scranton, and she continues to teach both Old and New Testament courses as full time tenured professor for the Theology/Religious Studies Department at the University of Scranton.
