donald prudlo, Catholic Distance University

Donald Prudlo is an Assistant Professor of Medieval History at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. He was formerly a Post-Doctoral Scholar at the Liberty Fund in Indianapolis, Indiana. He has a BA in History, with a minor in Classics, from Christendom College; an MA in Theological Studies from the Notre Dame Graduate School of Christendom College, with a specialization in Historical and Systematic Theology; and a Ph.D. in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Virginia, with a specialization in Medieval European History and Theology.

He is the author of several works, including The Martyred Inquisitor: The Life and Cult of Peter of Verona (Ashgate: 2008); The Assassin Saint: The Life and Cult of Carino of Balsamo, Catholic Historical Review (Jan 2008); The Authority of the "Old' Pontifical Biblical Commission (Fellowship of Catholic Scholars Quarterly 27:3, Fall 2004); and Scriptural Theology of the Counter Reformation (in Christian Theologies of Scripture: A Comparative Introduction, ed. Justin Holcomb, (New York University Press, 2006). Prudlo has also delivered a lecture for the Vatican Inquisition Symposium in Rome on the topic of Holiness and Anti-Heretical efforts. He is currently editing a new edition on the idea of Mendicancy in the middle ages for Brill, and is writing a study of the history of Canonization.
