CDU was established in 1983 to meet the needs of adults
who recognize that religious literacy is a lifelong process of growing
in the knowledge and love of God. Recognizing the diversity of vocations
and the pace of modern life today, CDU offers an educational format called distance education.
This way of learning provides adults with the unique opportunity to adapt
the method, time, and place of learning to their own situation and schedule.
CDU offers adults a carefully designed curriculum of doctrinal, moral,
and spiritual formation that combines the convenience of learning at home,
at work, or on-the-road, with the academic benefits of a highly qualified
faculty and group discussion with other adult learners.

The Church has deep roots in distance learning.
The first distance educator in the Church was
St. Paul who, in the first century A.D., wrote
Epistles, or letters of instruction, to the early
Christian communities. His Epistles catechized
the early Christians and continue to catechize
today as part of divine Revelation. |
