For over 25 years, CDU has provided educational opportunities to service members, veterans, and members of military families. While many universities offer degree programs for the military, CDU is one of the few that addresses the intellectual and spiritual hunger of our students as they come together to form a virtual community united in a pursuit of knowledge, truth, and the love of God.

Active participation in government programs
As a DETC accredited university, CDU is approved by the Department of Defense for all branches of active duty military to receive tuition assistance (TA) and is approved for the payment of VA educational benefits. To learn more about these programs, visit the U. S. Department of Defense web site. CDU accepts military credits and CLEP credits with an appropriate transcript.

Meeting the unique needs of service members and families
At CDU, military professionals can earn a Bachelor of Arts in Theology in our degree completion program. This unique program allows students to combine 90 general education credits (earned at CDU, other accredited colleges, or with our partner school Harrison Middleton University) with 36 credits completed at CDU to earn a BA in Theology. Courses are offered online or in paper format so when duty calls, our students have their courses with them to continue program work.

CDU also offers a MA in Theology with no residency requirements for students seeking an advanced degree. An undergraduate degree from an accredited college and completion of a prerequisite course, Introduction to Christianity, is all CDU requires to be accepted into this premier theology program.

Tuition assistance and VA benefits can also be used to earn a Catechetical Diploma. This program provides a systematic program of study to help lay volunteers, religious, priests, parents, teachers and business leaders become true catechists—those trained to teach the Faith with authority. Courses taken for the Catechetical Diploma earn undergraduate credit.

CDU has more experience in delivering theology in a distance format than any other accredited Catholic institution in the world. Since Catholic theology is our expertise, our students find that CDU is the right sized university to meet their needs. This is very beneficial to our military students and families because we are able to consider special needs that may arise due to deployment, combat situations, and other circumstances unique to the military.

Authentic Catholic teachings
At CDU, all of our efforts go into designing and delivering theology courses that are authentically Catholic and faithful to the teachings of the Church. Our students are serious adult learners who are hungry for solid, authentic Catholic teachings. Through technology, our students form a vibrant learning community that truly reflects the universality of the Church. CDU also works closely with the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, and other supporting organizations.

DANTES
To serve military personnel, CDU participates in the tuition assistance program managed by the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES). Eligible service members should consult their education service officer and the DANTE catalog for CDU course offerings. Chaplains' assistants and related personnel will find CDU's programs beneficial for their professional development.

Knowledgeable military support office
Our staff has years of training and experience in meeting the unique financial and academic needs of military members, veterans, and their families. They are fully trained in government programs including tuition assistance and VA benefits and work closely with service members and their families to maximize benefits available to them. To learn more, call Carol Ciullo, Director of Admissions at 1.888.254.4238 ext. 700.
