About Edgar Omar Segura Esparragoza, MS

Dr. Edgar Omar Segura Esparragoza (Faculty Member, part-time), educator and author, holds a doctorate from the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (SLP). An educator for eight years serving at undergraduate level, he currently serves in Centro de Bachillerato Tecnológico Agropecuario N°143 and Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption of Santa María del Río, S.L.P. México.

Segura Esparragoza is the author of Protective effect of aqueous extract of Calea Urticifolia in a mouse model of diabetic neuropathy by International Journal of Biological and Natural Sciences in 2023. He writes a variety of scientific publications related to pharmacobiological and chemical sciences.

In México, he has been awarded several awards or distinctions, among which stand out: Jóvenes Promesas menores de 30, category Biological Sciences by Colegio De Posgraduados en Administración de la República Mexicana (COLPARMEX) in 2019 and 63° edición de Certamen 20 de Noviembre de SLP, category “Francisco Estrada” Scientific Research by Gobierno del Estado de S.L.P. in 2014.

He has had the opportunity of three academic research stays in Laboratorio de Fisiología del Desarrollo, in Departamento de Fisiología, Biofísica y Neurociencias and Laboratorio de Genética Toxicológica e Inmunología, in Departamento de Toxicología of Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional (CINVESTAV-IPN).

In relation to the Catholic Church, he is a specialist in ecclesiastical history of the viceroyalty of New Spain, specifically in Franciscan evangelization of the Chichimecas and popular religiosity, particularly brotherhoods. Because of this, he has been awarded with XIX Premio Citibanamex Atanasio G. Saravia by Fomento Cultural Citibanamex 2022 and 70° edición de Certamen 20 de Noviembre de S.L.P.

“Francisco Peña” Historical Research by Gobierno del Estado de S.L.P. in 2021. He currently collaborates in the identification, classification, conservation and restoration of ecclesiastical archives.
