About Marlon de la Torre, PhD

Professor Marlon De La Torre has been involved in Catholic Education for the last fourteen years. Not only has he experienced being a Catholic School teacher , principal, and superintendent, but he has served in numerous catechetical roles in the Church: as catechist, Director of Religious Education, Director of RCIA Programs, Director of Youth Ministry Programs with the Diocese of Memphis and Kansas City-St. Joseph. He is currently serves as the Director of Catechist Formation and Children’s Catechesis for the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth, Texas. His list of outstanding achievement awards attests to his skillful excellence in the Church’s work of evangelization.

His educational background includes a BA in Theology and a BS in Mental Health/Human Services from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio; an MA in Theology with a concentration in Catechetics from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio; and an MA in Education Administration and Curriculum from the University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, KS.

Professor De La Torre is a regular on EWTN radio with the SonRise Morning Show and is a lead Catholic writer for Catholixechange.com and Catholiclane.com. He was a guest on EWTN Live with Fr. Mitch Pacwa this past August 24, 2011 to discuss his new book Screwtape Teaches the Faith based on  Screwtape Letters and the Catechism of the Catholic Church along with other topics related to catechesis and instruction.

Professor De La Torre is fluent in Spanish and English providing leadership that is so needed in our Catholic communities and parishes today. He has been married for over fourteen years to his beautiful bride Amy and they have three wonderful children, Miguel 12, Gabriela 10, and Maria 6.
